My friend Lauren, who has the misfortune of dating this man, is a real estate agent here in town. One night we were talking about really important things, as is our habit, and she mentioned a "meta-place." I demanded that she name one. Despite her years in the real estate industry, she was unable to.

I have been taunting her about this for weeks now and today she sent me a link that has laid the whole issue to rest. It turns out a "meta space" is defined like so...

"An object is defined in a space, in a context. When we want to talk pertinently about that space itself, we must place ourselves in another 'outer' space of which the manipulated or 'inner' space is an object. Such an outer space is termed a meta-space."
