Like Day Follows Night
"I think the word you were looking for is 'Schilling,' though maybe you were just going with what you know."
People, I'm not even sure what this means, but I do know the Angels were grabbing ankles for the pleasure of The Baltimore Orioles last night.
Miggy raised his universe-leading RBI total to 106 with a three-hit effort and native son David Newhan, who grew up 15 minutes from the Big A and whose father, Ross, has banged the keys from Anaheim to Cooperstown over a forty-four year career, made a triumphant return to the OC going 3-for-5 with 3 RBI.
The game was at least competitive until the eighth when Anaheim "reliever" Matt Hensley coughed up a nickel, raising his ERA to a robust 6.63.
And as quickly as Assclown derided my nine, suddenly there's a three-way tie atop the AL wild card standings.
Sadly my joy may be short-lived, as Derek "I'm Not Crazy" Lowe takes the hill against Tampa rightie Dewon Brazelton. Then again, maybe not as Anaheim's lamb du juor, Kelvim Escobar, who aspires to mediocrity at home, faces a Baltimore team riding an eight-game winning streak.
On a lighter note, I've just been informed that I'm being given a raise for no apparent reason. I'm not particularly good at what I do, I'm already overpaid, I spend a good chunk of my workday doing shit like this and I'm being laid off. But if the check clears, why not cash it, right?
Finally, we here at MWIAA would like to give a hearty birthday shout to Katharine (stet) Megan Eady, who turns (censored) today. She's currently toiling selflessly in the French countryside, helping to fix up an old cemetery. This apparently is her idea of a vacation.

You forget the power that is Brian Roberts, 4/5 yesterday with a walk, and 2 grand slams in his short career against the vaunted Angels bullpen.
Ha, ha, ha, ha.
We might be second
