Keith Foulke

He's been pretty much as advertised and he's a great leap forward from the disaster that befell the Sox' bullpen last season. The BA and SLG are all slightly higher, but that's to be expected moving from Oakland to Boston, but the strike outs are down as well.

Having said that, this team is not going to be able to bail his ass out night after October night, as it has the past two evenings.

Keith, please, get it together.

I was late for a flight to Phoenix for a training session on the Sunday that began the all-star break. I had to go standby and eventually got on a plane in first class. Foulke and Bill Mueller were right behind me. Unfortunately, I didn't know who they were until a colleague from the Stamford office pointed it out to me. I wish I had known before, because I would have let Foulke have it over blowing a game against the Rangers that cost the Angels a game in the standings.

I was wearing my Troy Percival jersey at the time.

Clarification: I knew who they were, but didn't recognize them.

I'd like to have season tickets, but that 2,000 mile flight to and from games every homestand is a bit of a sticking point. I've lived in Illinois for about six years now (Chicago for three). I go to all of the games when they're in town.

I have a Percival jersey because he went to UCR. I think he left a year or so before I started there (graduated in '95), but he's been my favorite Angel since he came up right around the time that I was graduating.

If they make the playoffs, though, I'll probably try to fly home for a game or two if I can get tickets. I was there in '82 and '86, but missed out in 2002. Did get to see GA dominate the All-Star game last year at Commiskey, though.
