Halo and Behold!

(sorry, I couldn't help myself)

The Sons of Gene Autry have suddenly found a renewed interest in October baseball. In taking the last two over Oakland they now sit only a game off the lead in the AL West. Unfortunately they're heading to Texas for a four-game tilt with the hard charging Rangers, winners of seven of their last ten, who are only a game behind them. Then it's off to Oakland for the last three games of the regular season.

The fact is that the Angels control their own destiny and really that's all you can ask for at this time of year. However, with the suspension of Jose "Helmet" Guillen, coupled with the torn ACL of Adam Kennedy, their chances of standing tall during this week-long scrum are severly diminished.

On a brighter note the Death Wish Kid faces off against Tampa's stud-in-the-making, Scott Kazmir, tonight with a chance to clinch a play off berth for the Nation. Huzzah!

If they throw Mulder again and he gets shelled, props to Keith Law. He told me a couple weeks ago that Mulder could be the Angels' secret weapon.

Yesterday's game was terrific. The Angels of a week or two ago would have quit after the top of the first, maybe scored a couple of runs after the game was out of hand. They battled, they pitched, the defended, and hopefully they'll take a little MO into this series.
