Wednesday

Minnesota @ New York
Radke - He's pitched better than his 11-8 record, but probably not as well as his 3.48 ERA. Looking at those low strike out totals makes me think that maybe he's benefitted from the Twinkies D. Of course that same D will be behind him tonight, and the man simply does not walk people, which should be huge facing the Yankees, against whom he's pitched well twice this season.

Lieber - A classic guy-only-the-Yankees-could-sign. "Sure, we'll put you on the payroll while you have surgey and rehab for a year." He's been very average this season and his selection as the #2 speaks volumes about the state of the Yankees starting rotation. I don't know if he's got the step-on-your-neck juice for this situation.

In the interest of full disclosure, I'm finishing this in the top of the second. Neither guy has impressed me. Radke gave up a moonshot to Jeter that landed in the black in centerfield and Radke gave up a walk (figures). The score's tied, but I still like the Twinkies in this one. Why? Because I just watched Derek Jeter take a curtain call for a game-tying home run in the first inning of Game 2 of the ALDS. Pathetic.
