Welcome Aboard, Gilligan!
With last night's victory The Singing Cowboy Nine have moved into a tie for first place with the fast-falling A's and all but dispatched the Rangers to the remainder bin of the AL. The only way the Rangers can win it is if they win the next two over Anaheim and then Anaheim wins two of three over Oakland. Any deviation from this and the Rngers are out. Good luck.
Escobar, the Angels' most effective starter this season, despite the sub-.500 record, went six on three days rest, surrendering only two runs on three hits. And Vlad threw his hat back into the MVP race with two taters, giving him three in the Angels last two games.
With five games to play, two against a beleaguered Rangers and three against Oakland, the Angels are not only tied with Oakland in the overall standings, but have split the season series, 8-8, as well.
If Mike "Two Bavarian Creme, Please" Scioscia has decided to go to a three-man rotation, it will likely turn out to be the best-last decision he'll make down the stretch. The less Matt sees of Aaron Sele this week, the better.
With the suspension of Guillen, the DL-status of Kennedy, Salmon and Quinlan, and the presence of Eckstein's "bat", the Angels got a tough row to hoe, but if Dallas McPherson can prove himself worthy of Matt's man-crush and the Big Cat can manage not to get cancer again for a week, they just might get this done.
No, Bill, I don't want the Angels over the Twinkies because I fear Johan, I want the Angels over the Twinkies so I can point and laugh at the UrClown all week while I'm on vacation watching the Sox win the World Series in the comfort of his living room.

My point was that, were I you, I would want the Angels in a short series because the Sox are more likely to get lucky in a five game series against the Angels than in a seven game series, where the Angels would surely prevail.
